Here's a great opportunity to hear me in one of my most challenging and versatile settings: Folks, make sure you
"Mark" this one down in the calender. I'm excited to announce that I'll be presenting a performance as featured artist on the Covenant Public Concert series on March 10th. The theme is "improvisation on the violin and it's evolution in music throughout the ages". Pythagoras, the founder of modern western mathematics, even derived his whole system of geometry from the harmonic ratios on a single string...now that's a "String Theory"!
The program will comprise partially of tributes to the artists who inspired me, will have a minimal amount of corny jokes, and will include homages and reflections dedicated some of the most influential violinists and composers in the history of the music, with a focus on jazz, but with a program spanning a wide variety of genres.
Greatfully supported by a world-class guest list including acclaimed bassist Tony Marino- and a slew of other of my talented friends, this free concert will be open to the public and children of all ages. The concert starts at 3pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Scranton (550 Madison Ave on March 10th). There will be a meet and greet reception following the event with refreshments and free hugs, as well as CDs for sale from a variety of different genres. Best wishes for a great day and hoping to see you soon!
Warm Regards,
Mark Woodyatt
